For the right to erect on or place on a grave in respect of which the exclusive right of burial has been granted:
Great Wakering Parish Lawn-Burial Ground is situated behind St. Nicholas Churchyard Great Wakering. The layout was largely inspired by the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Each grave is laid in an avenue of level grass and may, if required be marked at the head by a memorial comprising of a headstone (made of white natural stone) set on base. Applications to acquire rights of burial or erect a headstone should be made to the Parish Council Office. The layout was largely inspired by the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Recent excavations in advance of a churchyard extension at Great Wakering
revealed dramatic evidence of the importance of this location in the
later Saxon period in the form of this elaborately carved fragment
of limestone.
