The Village of Great Wakering lies between Shoeburyness
and Foulness in Essex; Great Wakering has developed considerably as a
residential area around the original village and High Street. The
traditional industry of brick making is still carried on here. Romans,
Normans, Saxons and Danes have all travelled this way, leaving their marks
as they passed through history. The parish church is Norman with parts
having been repaired with Roman materials. The Council is responsible for the village Allotments, Common and Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Community Wood, Churchyard, Parish Burial Ground, Church Clock, Duck Pond, Bus Shelters and areas of Street Lighting. It organises various events throughout the year including an Allotment Competition and Annual Newsletter.
