Parish Burial Fees

The fees, payments and sums set out below only apply where the deceased has been an inhabitant or parishioner of the district of Great Wakering Parish Council for a minimum period of 2 years before their death or within a period of 5 years prior to their death, or, in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of death were, such inhabitants or parishioners. In all other cases, the fees, payments and sums will be trebled.

Part 1. INTERMENTS

The fees indicated for the various headings of items 1, 2 and 3, do not include the digging of the grave.

1. For the interment, in a grave in respect of which an exclusive right of burial has not been granted:

  • (i) Of the body of a stillborn child or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years £NIL
  • (ii) Of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years £355

2. For the interment, in a grave in respect of which an exclusive right of burial has been granted:

  • (i) Of the body of a stillborn child or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years £NIL
  • (ii) Of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years £355

3. For the interment of cremated remains in a grave:

  • (i) Of the body of a stillborn child or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years £NIL
  • (ii) Of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years £215

4. For the re-opening of an existing grave on the authority of the exclusive right of burial holder for an interment:

  • (i) Of the body of a stillborn child or of a child whose age at the time of death did not exceed 16 years £NIL
  • (ii) Of the body of a person whose age at the time of death exceeded 16 years £370

The fees, payments and sums set out below for Parts 2 & 3 only apply where the purchaser has been an inhabitant or parishioner of the district of Great Wakering Parish Council for a minimum period of 2 years before the death or within a period of 5 years prior to their death, or, in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of death were, such inhabitants or parishioners. In all other cases, the fees, payments and sums will be trebled.

Part 2. EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS OF BURIAL IN EARTHEN WARD GRAVES

  • 1. For the exclusive right of burial for a period of 50 years in an earthen grave 9 feet by 4 feet £425
  • 2. For the exclusive right of burial of cremated remains in an earthen grave 4 feet by 2 feet for a period of 50 years £235

Part 3. GRAVESTONES AND MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS

For the right to erect on or place on a grave in respect of which the exclusive right of burial has been granted:

  • A Headstone or Ashes Tablet £170
  • The fee indicated for this Part includes the first inscription.
  • New memorial permit for replacement of existing memorial  - £55

Part 4. MISCELLANEOUS

  •        Transfer of exclusive right of burial - £40 .00  
  •        Grave search - £5 

 

 


  • For each inscription after the first, a fee of £85 is payable.
  • For each Ashes Tablet after the first, a fee of £85 is payable.
