Rochford District Council Platinum Purse Grants Open

31/03/2022

Rochford District Council’s Platinum Purse is a one-off grant scheme set up to support community groups in the district who want to organise their own Jubilee lunch or street party.

The traditional May Bank Holiday is being moved to Thursday 2 June. An additional Bank Holiday, on Friday 3 June, means a four-day weekend of celebration, with a host of events.

Thousands of street parties and neighbourhood gatherings are expected to take place as part of The Big Lunch, on Sunday 5 June.

Community groups can apply for a grant, up to a maximum of £500, to assist with their celebrations, helping cover the costs for food, drink, equipment and decorations. The funding pot totals £10,000.

Applications are open to any member of the community within the district of Rochford who is involved in organising a neighbourhood event.

You can apply online now for the Platinum Purse Grant. The closing date for applications is Friday 20 May 2022.

Rochford District Council’s portfolio holder for commercial, business, local economy and leisure, Cllr Mike Webb, and portfolio holder for communities, Cllr Arthur Williams, said:

“We are pleased to be able to provide support to our residents who want to get involved in marking Her Majesty the Queen’s historic reign. The Platinum Purse grant offer will help make community events happen at a local level and is open to all who are looking forward to celebrating the Queen’s 70 years of service.”

Please note: If you are organising a street party and want a road to be closed, you will need to complete our simple online application form, available on the above site, before Friday 13 May 2022
